The squad took some time to gel as a competitive unit, but grew progressively stronger as the season advanced. The combinations in attack did not always work initially, particularly with the less experienced players who found it difficult to adapt. In defence things were more solid, with Denise as the anchor and Mary and Ellie in strong support. Although it was unfortunate to lose Ellie very early on, this gave Katie the chance of promotion from the 5th team, which she grabbed with both hands, proving she was more than up to the task (and also playing really well for the 3rd team on the last match day). The defence was further cemented when Ruth was promoted on her way back from a long term injury.

In the centre court, the team was led by Jess, with Charlie making a lot of turnovers and Emma (still U14) improving as the season progressed. In the front court, Kirsty, Imi and Wendy built up a good understanding, and Wendy’s experience couple with Imi’s determination to succeed really helped their combination to develop.

The player of the year for the 4th team was Kirsty, whose contribution as WA, with the main feed into the circle was invaluable to the team’s success, and was able to comfortably able to slot back into her more familiar GA role when the team needed her.
